The past several weeks have been a flurry of activity over here, so I’m behind on my spring cleaning. I started the week out strong with some excellent organizing, but then my dog got sick, and things went downhill from there. You can read more below, but first, here’s a little info for those who are new to the challenge.
Okay, let’s start with a recap of Week 5: Toys and Hobbies.
KONMARI WEEK 5: TOYS & HOBBIES
I’m not sure how everyone else did these past few weeks, but toys and hobbies took a lot more energy than I thought.
Apparently, we have a TON of toys and hobbies.
First, I started with our son’s toys. He’s only one, so this was fairly easy. I just cleaned out his little toy boxes and shelves, then I was done with that.
Next, I tackled the craft supplies. This was much harder. We have so. many. craft. supplies. We have paint supplies, chalk supplies, crayons, markers, glue, sequins, multiple containers of small doodads, screen printing stuff, and the list goes on and on.
We had three buckets of pens and markers. Three buckets! Why? Some of the things were so old that they had my maiden name on them. I’ve been married for 13 years. Eek!
But we got all that done.
Then we moved on to the “downstairs toys,” as we so lovingly call them. These are toys that are really too big for our son, so we keep them downstairs for my nieces and any other older kids that come over to play. We used to have two older kids in our home, so we’ve collected quite a few toys in the basement. This took a while to go through. It also included our dollhouse, which is pretty huge.
Lastly, I went through our board games and DVDs. This wasn’t too bad because we just cleaned these out a few months ago. But I haven’t tackled our party supplies, beach supplies, and a few other things yet because they’re technically in storage. I figured I’d work on those things as I transition to the next category. Speaking of which…
KONMARI WEEK 6: STORAGE
Storage! Obviously, this category could be awful. But I’m hoping it won’t be so bad since it’s one of the last ones on our list. This week, we’re cleaning out:
It’s not gonna be easy, but we’re almost done with our spring cleaning! Yay!
If you’ve made it this far, you can definitely finish the challenge. I hope you’re seeing as much progress as I am. See you next week! Until then, feel free to follow me on Instagram to see my progress.
